PUERTO DE LA DUQUESA

Eating out
The port has full marina services with a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes.
The numerous restaurants around the district enable one to choose national
and international cuisine served alongside some traditional dishes.
For a full English breakfast, why not visit Saddles, Carol and Manolo will
welcome you with open arms. Most pubs like Ryder's, Hemingway's and the
Penguin are the meeting points of regulars. Fancy a bit of Tapas, La Taberna
has a wide selection of cured Ham, olives, cheeses and many more. There are
about four Chinese restaurants as well, and one that is worth mentioning is
"The Slow Boat to China" they will serve you with a smile, keep your kids
occupied and would even deliver your meal to your home!
Fancy a pizza? Well Il Capitano and La Vecchia Milana have just what you need
from pizzas to pasta, meats and even seafood.

San Luis de Sabinillas and El Castillo
This magnificent marina as well as its two turistical
centres such as San Luis De Sabinillas and El Castillo
De La Duquesa, is an ideal place to visit all year.
Sabinillas is mainly a Spanish village. It is the typical
"pueblo" where everybody is related to everybody.
You speak to one person and you become the friend
of the entire village. Sabinillas is where you would go
shopping as one can find three supermarkets,
Mercadona, Supersol on the main road N340 and
another Supersol on the Manilva road just off the main roundabout where
parking isn't an issue! and the newest addition Liddle also on the main N340.
In Sabinillas, the Sunday morning market (El Rastrillo) is well worth a browse.
Held on an open area just off the N-340 main road,
you can find great bargains in antiques, pottery and
second hand goods. There is also a Friday market,
which is mainly food and clothes.

Right besides La Duquesa Port, is the small fishing
village of El Castillo. This traditional Spanish village
has a selection of Spanish restaurants famous for
their fish specialities. The local bars and bodegas are
very welcoming, as the village is not accustomed to the tourist trade.
El Castillo and Sabinillas are mainly occupied by Spanish families unlike Puerto
De La Duquesa whereEnglish is the main language.

Golf
La Duquesa Golf and Country Club boast an 18-hole golf course designed by
Robert Trent Jones Senior with wonderful sea and mountain views. In addition
to golf, the club offers many facilities for members, including tennis, squash and

Further golfing challenges are close at hand: Alcaidesa golf course overlooks
the rock of Gibraltar; Valderrama, host of the Ryder Cup and World
championship is only ten minutes drive from La Duquesa; Sotogrande is a
parkland paradise and so is San Roque. You can read much more about these
and other courses in our Golf Guide.

Beaches
The Manilva coast has more than eight kilometres of wide, fine sandy beaches
that are distinguished for their quality by the European blue flag award.

•
La Duquesa Beach (Playa De La Duquesa) runs from the centre of "El
Castillo" to the "Arroyo De La Piñuela". It offers all kind of services such as
Chiringuitos (beach restaurants), bars and a landscape characterised by the
presence of the old castle and the Duquesa Marina. This beach is the main hub
of tourist activity in the area.

•
Sabinillas Beach (Playa De Sabinillas), located in front of the town centre
and undoubtedly the most visited beach. It has a nice promenade (Paseo
Maritimo) which is going to be extended all the way to Puerto de La Duquesa
and joining these two areas. The Sabinillas beach also holds the European Blue
Flag award for its cleanliness.

•
Punta Chullera which is minutes away from La Duquesa has gorgeous
coves surrounded by low cliffs. With its clean and transparent waters, it is well
suited to underwater fishing.
COSTA HOLIDAYS
Puerto De La Duquesa is located at the
base of the Costa Del Sol, within the district
of Manilva.  Only 40 minutes from Malaga
and half an hour from Gibraltar, Puerto De
La Duquesa is a cosmopolitan port and
resort, with its superb 360 berth yacht
marina and is regarded as one of the best
zones on the south coast, with a privileged
all year round climate, sandy beaches and
unspoilt natural scenery. La Duquesa also
offers all the amenities to ensure a
comfortable and secure environment.
However, what mostly makes La Duquesa
such a nice place to be is the friendliness of
its people. Apart from tourists, many have
made this port their retirement home. It is
the place "where everybody knows your
name!"
